Speeds in the mobile network refers to how quickly you can transfer data packets to or from your mobile phone or router, and indicates the kind of experience you can have when surfing via the mobile network.
Several factors affect the speed and transfer of mobile data:
- Available technology: For example, whether 5G or 4G is available in your location.
- Maximum speed: The speed available for your mobile subscription.
- Number of mobile users: If there are more mobile users in an area than it is designed for, speed can be reduced.
- Type of mobile phone or router: The device you are using matters.
- Distance to the mobile mast: The shorter the distance, the better.
Technology | Maximum download speed | Maximum upload speed |
5G | Up to 4x faster then 4G+ | Up to 4x faster then 4G+ |
4G+ | Up to 220 Mbit/s | Up to 35 Mbit/s |
4G | Up to 80 Mbit/s | Up to 35 Mbit/s |
2G | Up to 200 Kbit/s | Up to 100 kbit/s |
Traffic Management
The term traffic management describes how traffic is managed over the network. This can include, for example:
- Prioritizing certain types of traffic, especially when there is a lot of traffic on the network, to ensure seamless and uninterrupted internet access.
- Reducing the speed of certain types of non-critical traffic at times and places where there is a lot of traffic.
- Reducing traffic for heavy data users.
Traffic Management
The speed you can achieve depends on the coverage in the area you are in and the maximum speed available in your mobile subscription. This applies regardless of when and where you use the network, and regardless of what you download/upload (as long as the content is legal) and as long as you have data left in your subscription. For example, if you have a subscription with 10 GB of included data, you will get the maximum speed offered by the subscription until you have used up the included data.
Mycall does not block the use of services, content, or applications unless we are required to block them for legal reasons
Description | All subscriptions |
|---|---|
Are any services, content, or applications always blocked*? | No |
Are any services, content, or applications always slowed down, so you get lower speeds? | No |
Are any services, content, or applications always prioritized? | No |
Are any specialized services** provided on Mycall's subscription? | Yes |
What impact does this have? | When you make calls over the 4G network, known as 4G Voice / VoLTE, it uses data and consumes available capacity. This traffic is prioritized. It does not consume the available data amount |
What speeds, download/upload limits, and available data amounts apply? | Log in to the subscription page to see the content and limits for your subscription. |
Is traffic management used to manage download limits? | No |
Is traffic management used to adjust speeds for heavy data users? | No |
The table applies to all current and previous subscriptions, both mobile and broadband subscriptions.
*This excludes some services, content, or programs that are illegal and which Telia is therefore required to block.
**A specialized service, such as 4G Voice, is prioritized in the network. This means that if you make calls over the 4G network, it consumes available network capacity, and this traffic is prioritized. 4G Voice will therefore be prioritized over other data traffic.
Any complaints about perceived speed should be directed to Mycall customer service via one of the following contact points: by phone at +47 06160, chat, or contact form.
